Center for sustainable community
We are engaged in the discovery and creation of all aspects of sustainable community, honoring and embracing the natural world and humanity.
Our mission is to provide educational experiences and demonstration projects that make ethical and wise uses of human and natural resources.
Join us every Second Saturday of the month from 10am-12pm for our volunteer days! We will be meeting at the CSC community gardens to work on various land projects. We want to encourage families with children and volunteers of all ages to participate; any and all contribution is valued. Community and co-operation is what we’re all about!
For those who haven’t seen it before, come early or stay after for a CSC land tour. Light refreshments of snacks, iced tea, lemonade, and water will be served to keep our bodies nourished and hydrated!
2023 Dates: July 8th, August 12th, September 9th & October 14th
ROCKET STOVE WORKSHOP
May 14th at 1:00 pm
Come learn about Thermal-Mass Rocket Stoves with Bill Wilson, co-founder of Midwest Permaculture.
At this workshop we will visit the house of Wayne and Bev Malchow and get a good look at their homemade rocket-mass heater. Wayne will talk us through the construction of his stove and Bev will share what it has been like using this stove for over 10 years now. We will examine closely, and fire up, this thermal mass rocket stove!
If you join us in the morning for our Volunteer day, don’t forget to bring your sack lunch!
Stay tuned for upcoming events in 2024!
Check back soon to stay up-to-date on upcoming events and volunteer days starting in the spring of 2024.
